Information from National Archives Australia digitised service records: He was employed as a labourer and he stated his next of kin as his father, Ralph Arnold, of Milton, Derbyshire, late of Shackerstone, Warwickshire. Six feet and half an inch tall, he weighed 11 stone 8, had a dark complexion, brown eyes and brown hair, and was a Roman Catholic. Personal effects returned to his father after his death included letters, photos, two discs, an electric torch, a pipe, two wallets and a pocket book.
